Types of Auto Insurance

This protection provides coverage for you and your family from the actions of an at-fault, under-insured driver. If you are travelling in a province or a state where the mandatory liability coverage is low, Family Protection coverage ensures that you and your family are covered if you are injured in an accident up to your own policy's limits regardless of the other person's coverage levels.

Collision is an optional coverage and covers your vehicle when it is involved in a collision with another vehicle or object.

Comprehensive Auto Insurance is optional and protects your car against loss or damage other than the collision or upset coverage. This coverage includes falling or flying objects, vandalism and theft.

If you are involved in an accident and your car is not drivable, Loss of use coverage insurance pays for a rental car while your car is being repaired. Coverage limits can be different from one Car Insurance company to another.

Protects you if someone is injured or killed or their property is damaged. It will pay for legitimate claims made against you up to the limit of your coverage and will pay the costs of settling the claim.

If you need to rent a car for a short term, this option provides you with the same level of physical damage coverage (i.e. collision and/or comprehensive coverage) that you carry on your own vehicle. You can purchase this coverage from the rental company, however it can get expensive. Some of these companies charge more for one day of coverage than you would pay for a year's worth of Car Insurance through your local insurance broker.

If your car is written off in an accident within the first couple of years of the original delivery date, this optional coverage ensures you will receive the full value of what you paid for the car without depreciation. However, if your car can be safely repaired, your insurance company will arrange for necessary repairs.
